Tony's DVD Recommendations
These recommendations are based on my personal preferences . Many of the movies have been around for a long time and will be in some peoples collections already. These are the movies that would be the ones I would choose to take to a desert island with me (assuming it was equipped with a DVD player, TV and power to run them from). As I remember other movies I enjoyed or see new ones which catch my imagination, I will add them to these pages. You will probably notice that since I was brought up in the UK, my preferences for television movies are heavily UK centric, while for feature films they are more or less international. The images on the left of the lower level pages refer to the DVD code 1 (US) edition, while the ones on the right refer to the DVD code 2 (Europe) edition. If your DVD player is not a multi region one, then you need to take care to order DVDs that your player supports.

DVD players are now very inexpensive. It is very convenient to have a region free player (also called a multi region player). This will let you play DVDs from anywhere in the world, not just your own region. There are several advantages to this:-
Search the Electronics section of amazon for "Region Free", by pressing the "Go!" button, in one of the search boxes on the left or right of this text. |
