Just as very few 'experts' predicted the Asian economic crash of 1997, at this stage of 2002, not many of them are predicting a dramatic recovery any time soon. At Roaring Tigers though, we believe growth is now in the air. The recovery may not occur evenly in every country, but certainly in some countries there are now some very positive signs.

First we should say that this belief is not based on any scientifically established predictions. We saw plenty of those forecasting sharp recovery in 1999 and 2000, particularly from governments and their statistics departments. As we expected, on the whole this turned out to be wishful thinking on their part.

Our belief is based purely on ground level observation. These are simple day to day indicators, like restaurants which were empty a year ago, now have queues of customers waiting for a table to become vacant. Traffic congestion in major cities is building back towards it's pre 1997 crash levels. Cranes which had stood idly rusting on abandoned building sites for the last five years, have recently been repainted and are starting to move again.

We may possibly be wrong about the significance of these indicators, but make no mistake, Asia will recover and when it does, you will want to be there.

Roaring Tigers is made up of people (both Asians and Expats) who have spent many years doing business in Asia. We are sometimes staggered at the stupid mistakes some Western companies make when starting up in Asia. Even internationally respected companies which have had a presence in Asia for decades, occasionally send representatives, who in just a few minutes, undo months and sometimes years of hard work by the local team.

Our mission is to help you get your business profitably into the Asian markets with as few mistakes as possible.
